International Mabel Day XVII
Sunday December 4th 2016
Mabel's annual tour of Oxford city-centre pubs is back. And this time it's... well, probably quite a lot like last time.
Due to changes in ownership of Oxford city centre pubs, we've been having a bit of a hard time sorting out an itinerary. This is currently the plan...
- Meet in the Royal Blenheim, to begin dancing at 12 noon (sharp!)
The Blenheim will be open from around 11am, serving tea, coffe, bacon butties and all the usual morning stuff (plus, of course, beer from their amazing array of handpumps).
Sadly we haven't been able to find another pub big enough for all of us, so we'll be staying at the Blenheim a bit longer than usual - probably everyone will get two dances. - At about half one (ish) we will split into separate tours that will be organised on the hoof. Expect to visit some selection of:
- The Chequers (off the High Street, down a little alley beside Hotel Chocolat)
- The Crown (off Cornmarket, down the alley beside McDonalds)
- Beerd (on George Street, formerly the Bunch of Grapes)
- The White Rabbit (on Gloucester Green, formerly The Gloc)
- Meet up at the Kings Arms in order to begin dancing at 4pm. Mabel will bring home-made cake, and Ali the landlord kindly provides us, free of charge, with hot food (usually some sort of one-pot stew with a meat/veggie option).
The Teams
At present, Mabel are expecting as guests... in no particular order...- Stone Monkey
- Hawksword
- Northgate
- Warwick Rapper
- Shropshire Sharpshins
- Thrales
- Tower Ravens
Perhaps you would like to come along? Perhaps you'd like to bring a rapper side? Drop us a line if you would...
